welcome to a soft daydream
A poetic cloud of words, dancing to the songs of softness and sensuality. Where we gaze upon the natural world to create new worlds.
My name is Jennae and I’m a poet and an embodiment practitioner from Melbourne, Australia. Currently residing on Wadawurrung country. I was born on the last day of summer in the middle of the nineties and I’m ruled by water and the moon.
A soft daydream is inspired by the idea that “imagination saves lives.”
A side effect of living in a world where burn out is the norm, is that we can so easily lose our imagination and curiosity. These aspects of ourselves are so important to reclaim because daydreaming isn’t just a form of escapism, it is how we reimagine the world we want to live in.
I always thought of myself as “a perpetual daydream” because I’m always living in my head. This space is my way to take the stories in my mind and bring them into the world via poetry, lyrical essays and embodiment practices. To create a lunar-venusian dreamscape that you can escape to.
While the way I approach my work is soft, sensual and gentle, there is a deeper current in the ocean of my writing that embraces fierceness, radical social change, environmentalism and feminine empowerment.
I believe that rest is radical, pleasure is the point, embodiment is essential for our wellbeing and most importantly, that poetry changes the world.
I’m so glad you’re here to daydream with me.

Acknowledgement of Place
I acknowledge the Wadawurrung and Wurundjeri people as the traditional custodians of the lands I live and create on. I offer my deepest respect and gratitude to the Elders past, present and emerging. I commit to ongoing practices of decolonisation and living in reciprocity to the land, waters and skies. My writing is inspired so deeply by this land and I recognise that without the rich dreamtime stories and stewardship of the land by First Nations people, there would be no soft daydreams.
Acknowledgement of Practice
I acknowledge and pay my respects to the spiritual lineages, practices and traditions that inform my approach to embodiment, especially yogic, meditative and somatic teachings that originated in South and East Asia and other parts of the world. I recognize these ancient roots and living traditions as well as the teachers, poets and practitioners that have come before me.
