poetry recitation
This is part one in a poetry series entitled the ascendance, consisting of four sonnets.
desire is my path
I feel it now, desire is my path.
Sunshine dancing on the back of my thighs.
Salt on my face under waves when I dive.
Whispers of softness from the bluebells I pass.
Loss of control, holding onto my calves.
Maple syrup stirred into cacao eyes.
Moving me to mountains and opalescent skies.
Little fingers touching like feathers and glass.
An ache in my valley sings a wanting song.
Nectar that swells and crashes with a whimper.
This atlas of sensation is urgent and strong
Hips coil like an ancient serpent that shivers.
A bath filled with honey where my dripping lips belong.
Electricity ripples on the surface of the water as it quivers.
This is absolutely gorgeous, so alive and full of feeling. I love how you’ve made desire feel like both a physical force and something almost mythical. The whole piece pulls me right into the moment. There’s such a beautiful tension between the ache and the reverence, especially with imagery like “hips coil like an ancient serpent.” It’s intimate without ever being too much, it feels raw, but also sacred, if that makes sense. You’ve captured something so universal and made it personal. I love it like always ❤️🔥❤️🔥
Oh yum yum yum, Jennae. An exquisite dance of hunger. You've let me wanting for the rest 👅
