Here lies an ekphrastic poem, eternally held by earth and wildflowers. Inspired by several artworks painted by Latvian artist Jana Brike.
✿ i. this forest wood entangles me my tears come out to play within these wild flowers my quivering heart is contained my skin is a refuge, a realm for butterflies to land red strawberry juice drips from the tips of my hand ✿ ii. take away my eye i'll still be aware i will look at you fiercely with my unending stare these vines are not a prison they're part of who i am returning to the earth was always my plan ✿ iii. floating to the sky with blossoms that twist the breeze tickles my skin kisses at my wrists reveal the soft center the tender spot where life began rising to the clouds lifts my feet from the expand ✿ v. curls of gold and sun slipping off my shoulder tendons pressing forward roses becoming colder my lips, my lips birthing petals of blue a renaissance of my devotion to the gentle billowing hue ✿ viii. eyelashes resting on this vermillion satin cheek embracing my daffodil lover falling whimsically into the creek with skin between our hearts i rest in his sunflower soft glance these ribs create percussive music hands slipping into a dance ✿ xiii. submerged beneath the lily mossy nectar adorns my crown this water is a mirror sensitive curves try not to drown rippling moonlit navy i bathe in midnight glow darkness is behind me i shall sink before i grow ✿ xxi. a fervent tidal dance wraps around my botanic waist pink cherry foam glosses over my smiling face ill show you just one of these tissues that i host this supple, surfing softness pulls me further from the coast ✿ xxxiv. a lavender field bleeding crimson stains on my knees ill sing to the heavens breathing blooms across the sea when i stretch by the river the grasses they turn green tumble stones ask the stream can you gently caress me? ✿ lv. on my knuckle here rests a fluffy bumblebee his fingers sliding down sighing, oh persephone my wings won't you drink from these violet delights when you nibble this honeyed pollen your eyes will take flight ✿ lxxxix cut off my hands i will still be here soaring through pleasure your thorns i do not fear i laugh in the faces of those who try to steal my power breaking down is my nature i’ll dissolve and return as a flower
This is just stunning, I was feeling persephone so much right from the start and then she was revealed! I love that this poem has this very gorgeous, confident, wickedly feminine undercurrent ;) <3
